Cley-next-Sea

Chiffchaff, Walsey Hills NOA.

Took my sister Lucy out birding today (she's not a birder!) We arrived at Cley NWT for lunch where after having main course, Lucy decided she wanted a chocolate dessert which mean't I had to keep her company with a Stem Ginger ice-cream!

Went to Coastguards carpark. We started to walk to North Scrape but Lucy said she couldn't stand the wind and 'its freezing' so we had to go back. Several Golden Plovers near the Eye Pool and a redshank. Meadow Pipits on the wires. Very annoyed to see on RBA website that someone had had a Hoopoe on the Langham/Blakeney Road at 11.30am - which is exactly what time Lucy and I had driven along the same road!!

Dipped on Wryneck, but had lovely views of a Pied Flycatcher in Steve and Sue's Garden - thank you both very much indeed!

Had a look round Walsey Hills thinking there would be a pied fly in there too, but nothing apart from the usual Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs, Cettis' Warbler, Blackcap etc.

Sarbury Hill held nothing but a Chiffchaff.

Daukes' Hide did not have the Gargeney in front of the hide when I went for a quick look.

Friary Hills also did not produce the male Ring Ouzel.

Continued along coast road to my parents and younger sister Vivien at Holme. My mother said she had seen lots of Swifts at Holme Marsh Reserve this evening. I have not seen one yet!

Not a very productive birding day, but nice to spend time with Lucy. Note to self: ensure full day's birding tomorrow!

Just finishing editing all last blog pictures for last few trips out.
