Extremely busy DIY day. My electrician was here all day until 3.15pm. I was unscrewing and removing 32 heavy firebricks from the old Dimplex storage heaters – I could only lift one at a time, so that was 32 trips to stack them up outside. Emptied the car, packed up with Rointe radiator boxes and remains of three storage heaters. Whilst Lewis went into Lerwick to buy more stuff for the work, I headed to the dump and then to GTS to buy an extra 3 element radiator. The two I am waiting for are still not in yet. The 3 element radiator is going in my hall which is only 5.6ft x 3.5ft. Two electricians who have been out here before said it wasn't possible to put a radiator in here, with no socket and only the shower switch (bathroom next to hall), Lewis also agreed, but he said with a new and seperate fuse box (don't fully understand it as not an electrician) then it would be possible, the downside to this is that its cost me more pennies, but worth I feel, as currently have to hang wet coats in the kitchen as no heating in the hall.
So nice to have 2 extra double sockets in the kitchen, there was only one, can you believe that was only one double socket in a kitchen?! I now have three! Lewis really is an excellent electrician and obviously knows what he's doing. He's coming back again tomorrow to finish installing the new fuse box and installing the 3-element heater and then he will just have to install the last 2 heaters that have not arrived yet, fingers crossed they arrive tomorrow. Spent hours cleaning up after saw dust from cutting holes in plasterboard and trying to put things back were they were.
The
Leucistic House Sparrow seen briefly on the feeders, along with a huge flock
of House
Sparrows, Rock Doves, Collared
Doves and Starlings again. Margaret has had the Leucistic House Sparrow in her garden, so its obviously doing the rounds. Another lovely sunny day here. So looking forward to getting out birding, but I'm going to have to wait until I have all the essentials done for the carpet and blind fittings on Thursday.
