MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It's Christmas Day!!!

I was up early cooking the roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and a vegetable crumble main course (for mother and I) and it took forever to load the car up! It was a beautiful sunny day here in Norfolk. Went to pick up Lucy and Vivien and arrived at my parent's house. Mother cooked a Turkey 'Crown' don't know what this means exactly, apart from the fact it cost a ridiculous amount of money. No one can cook Yorkshire Pudding aswell as my mother, scrumptious! Dessert and lovely tea later, which included my Carrot Cake, which father really enjoyed.

We decided not to bother with presents this year, which I think we regretted a little bit – felt a bit strange not having any presents to open. But then that's not what Christmas is all about really.

Had a lovely day at Holme with my family, but I ran out of time to go out for my usual Christmas walk, so need to escape somewhere tomorrow to shed some pounds!

  1. A turkey crown is just the double breast of the bird...
    sometimes boned, often not...
it was one of the early adventures into value added by he who shall be called "Bootiful"...
and rapidly picked up by others.
The other, tasty, dark meat ended up in B.Matthews "Turkey Burgers", etc...
allowing him to charge the price of a good turkey for the crown...
and an inflated price for the "good for you" burgers!!

The only really good turkey is a Norfolk Black...
now sold at double the price as "Bronze" turkeys...
free range birds with tendons down the legs that you can carve the meat with....
    they are on the hoof...
    or should that be claw?...
for at least three times as long as BM's birds ever are.
Very tasty all over... BUT you pay a king's ransom.
The plus side is that they are so large that they feed a family of four until twelfth night...
after which, you never want to clap eyes on a plateful for the next twelve months.

Hope you saw some good "spots" today...
but the weather up your way looked a bit poor.
