The couple who have run this shop, are really lovely people – my parents and sisters have all used this shop regularly over many years. I'm very pleased to see it will continue as the village shop. Its very sad when local shops close completely. When the very popular bakers and general shop opposite the church at Thornham closed, the locals were furious when the new owners turned it into residential use and became someone's home. My mother cycled to that shop regularly to buy their fantastic home-made bread.
For people new to the area, you would never believe that there was once three shops in Holme!!! Tipples post office and shop on the main road, Arnold's shop opposite the White Horse pub and another shop opposite the old Methodist church, which I can't remember the name of.
