Sorry about the lack of exciting news! I have been unpacking stuff and putting things away in the office/studio. I also have to move major things around, to allow for the new living room carpet to be fitted on Friday and also my new kitchen blinds have finally arrived and are being fitted the same day.
After spending far too much time looking at Wayfair and other sites, I have decided to buy my bookcases from local shop "Muddy Bay" – took the measurements in on Saturday for bespoke bookcases to fit wall to wall on the living room side of the alcove and the dining room side. I wanted oak, but the cash is running out, so will have to go with pine, which will be considerably cheaper and in any case will be more in keeping with the cottage, as every door is pine!
I had the biggest shock of my life with my latest electric bill – the Rointe Belize radiators are not cheaper to run at all and I will never be able to have them above 18° – they are currently on 16°, I won't be able to afford to retire on the state pension, so lets hope I stay healthy! Big birthday coming up next month, which I'm not looking forward to at all, but time doesn't stand still, so nothing I can do about it.
Chimney being swept tomorrow night, wood burning stove repair and a rain proof cowl being put on the chimney. All being done with head torch by Rod at Shetland Fireplaces, which he assures me 'will be fine'! He is the only fire specialist person here, so is working flat out every day and I have been on a waiting list for months. I wanted it done before the new carpet is laid on Friday, only just made it in time!
