Beautiful sunny day.
Pager message indicated the Lesser Grey Shrike had relocated to just north west of The Dun Cow Pub at Salthouse! On arrival there were a few birders standing by the roadside, but no one had relocated it. I parked by the Iron Road and searched Sawbury Hill opposite - flock of long tailed tits, one garden warbler. Walked along the footpath to The Dun Cow and back along the road.
Walsey Hills - quite lively with birds here, two lesser whitethroats, chiffchaffs, bullfinches, great and blue tits and LBJ's. No sign of any Adders and Lizards.
Cley Visitor centre for lunch followed by a Goosberry Ice-cream (still no Stem Ginger flavour I noted). Incredibly busy with people here. Managed to get a table outside.
Lesser Grey Shrike had returned to Kelling. Drove to Kelling and walked along the track to the far end and there it was sitting on a short post in the middle of the marsh, west of the end of the track - it didn't move from this post except to catch a wasp or bee! Way too far out for a 300mm lens/+converter, athough took a record shot which was a dot in my picture! The few birders/photographers that were there all behaved themselves.
Went into the bookshop of Kelling and bought 3 very interesting bird books, 'Birds of the Norfolk Broads', Jarrold publication with a photo of my father's in and 2 copies of my father's first book 'Bird Watching - Nesting Birds along the Coast' Jarrolds again.
Back to Cley - browsed in the Cley bookshop.
Drove along the coast road which was the longest journey along there I have ever made - the traffic was awful! Eventually arrived at my parents to deliver some shopping.
Birdfair tomorrow and my 'Wildlife Walk and Lunch with Simon King!!!!!!!!!! Its going to be a very wet 'Wildlife Walk' I think!!!
