I woke up late and felt spaced out with the medication I'm taking. Eventually got out of the house and went to Holme village car park. It was much easier to drive today, thank goodness. There were around 15 people watching the Red-flanked Bluetail in the brambles, just east of the footpath at the eastern most end of the golf course, including Eddie, James McC. and Mike B. amongst others. I was very pleased to see this bird again, but views were very brief and you only got to see it for a few seconds, before it disappeared or was flushed by a Robin, so no pictures obtained today. Another birder had a Yellow-browed Warbler by the coast path, but no one else managed to see it – the blustery wind didn't help.
I left the scene and walked east along the coastal path behind the houses to the pay hut and then west along the very narrow public footpath alongside the River Hun. I found several Long-tailed Tits, a Great Tit, Blue Tit, Blackbirds and Redwings, but nothing else of note. Continued on the footpath west across the road at The Hun bridge that runs alongside the caravan park. Heard a Cettis's Warbler, saw more Long-tailed Tits, a Wren, Redwings and a Chaffinch. Returned to my car via Beach Road.
Drove through Hunstanton and was shocked at how many people were around, I had forgotten it is half term, but even still, I can't recall that many people being on the Norfolk coast in late October! Returned to King's Lynn and did a healthy supermarket shop, which means nothing nice to eat! Don't forget the clocks go back one hour at 2am!
