LEO At Last and Holiday Update!

A very busy time, especially over the last couple of days. Yesterday involved major sorting out in the back garden (jungle) with huge help from a good friend – today my hands look like they have been dragged through brambles! Today involved meeting up with Belinda Sanderson at Itteringham (picture conservator) to collect my watercolour painting of Holme reserves, which she has been working on since November. Then spent a few hours at Keys Auctioneers, getting stuff valued and putting into the weekly antiques sale. Then went to Picturecraft in Holt to leave my restored painting with them for framing at a later date. Spent my NHS long-term service award voucher in Byfords on several jars of homemade marmelade and jams!

Had a very late lunch at the excellent Kelling Tea Rooms – jacket potato with cheese & coleslaw and a pot of tea. Just as I was leaving, a gentleman sitting with (presumably) his good lady wife asked "are you Penny from Holme?" a lovely conversation then ensued, about all and sundry – lovely to meet you both. Twitched the Long-eared Owl at CleySpy – I must be the last person to see this, but it waited for me! Fabulous to watch this stunning owl, preening and enjoying the afternoon sun in the hedgerow. Quick stop at Glandford Ford for a coffee and mini walk. Then stopped off at a fellow photographer's house to drop in my sold Canon lens for a friend of theirs! Plus had a fab time looking at all their excellent photos on an iMac! Drove home, cream-crackered, back to work in the morning!

FOR SALE: Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-F5.6 IS II USM Lens

I'm selling my Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-F5.6 IS II USM lens if anyone is interested, send an email to: pennyclarke@talktalk.net to make a reasonable and realistic offer! Currently this evening (by 21.03) I have two potentially interested parties, but if either party change their mind for any reason, please contact me anyway, so you are in the queue! Thank you.

I purchased this lens, in near mint condition, just before I went to Shetland in October 2021 and only because I was still on a very long waiting list for the Canon RF 100-500 lens – I had always intended on selling this lens after I got the RF 100-500 lens and have hardly used it to be honest, so still in the same fabulous condition. I paid £1,795.00 for the lens, so anything I can get close to this price would be good! Below is the screenshot of the lens I purchased from Wex in Norwich. Ideally I would rather it be someone in Norfolk, so we can meet up to view/purchase and so I don't have to think about wrapping up etc and posting.

All photos taken on my iphone this evening and with flash, so every detail shows.
There is no Canon box, it came in a plain white box (as stated on Wex advert above), which I didn't see the point in keeping, but everything else is included as in the pictures below.

MY BIRTHDAY!

I was up early, as had to run an errand for Lucy, which I can't go in to – medical stuff. Then returned home and made a salad and grated cheese for lunch later on. Lots of birds in the garden today and a huge flock of House Sparrows, maybe 30+ – they particularly love my finch seed, which I buy from Moulham & Horn at Heacham. Plenty of 'starving' Starlings ransacking the bird table, Robins x 2, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Collared Doves, Magpie and 2 Muntjac Deer! There seemed to be a real hive of activity in the garden this morning.

My sister Vivien came over and spent the day with me and we had a lovely catch up. We very rarely get to spend time together on our own. Sadly, poor Lucy is really going through the mill right now – she had Covid for the first time over the Christmas period, then more or less straight afterwards, suffered with a gastric type virus, which she has continued to be ill with, so she couldn't join us today. Its more than slightly worrying, that she is still feeling so rough, I hope she gets better soon!

We were originally all going out for birthday lunch, but being as Lucy wasn't with us, we kept things simple, but naughty! I cooked Vivien and I cheesy baked potatoes in the Ninja Air Fryer, along with a healthy salad and also coleslaw Vivien had bought over. We had a bottle of "Nosecco" which I already had in the cupboard and then a very yummy raspberry and passion fruit cheesecake, which Vivien had bought! All good for my diet!!! I suppose I should also mention, the large bag of Butterkist popcorn Vivien gave me – which we ate between us in the afternoon!

We should have gone out for a walk, but the day disappeared so quickly! Vivien selected some of mother's Christmas Decorations and then I packed all the rest up into new storage boxes for me – but some will be going out to the charity shops over the next few days. By the time we had done this and cleared up all the tinsel bits off the floor, it was lunchtime and then the time seemed to race away after that, even more so when we had a situation with Lucy, which I won't go into now.

Vivien left at 6.30pm, which was later than she wanted to leave, as she hates driving in the dark and is not an overly confident driver – she stayed a bit later than intended, as she was worried about leaving me on my own too long on my birthday evening, which was very sweet, but I was fine! I promptly fell asleep on the sofa after Vivien left! This is what you do, when you get to my grand old age!

I've had enough of sorting the house out this week, I've done lots and need a break. I WILL be going birding at some point this weekend, maybe tomorrow, maybe Sunday?! Tuesday will be a very busy day (the day before I return to work) as I will be heading to East Norfolk, to collect my large watercolour painting of Holme Reserves and Broadwater, which paper conservationist Belinda Sanderson, has been working on since November – its now finished and I can't wait to see it! Then at a later date, I need to take it to Picturecraft at Holt to get framed up. Will also be dropping stuff off at Keys Auctioneers too, so a busy day all round!

Huge thanks to everyone who has kindly sent me best wishes on all social media platforms, very much appreciated and to Vivien & Ray and Lucy for their presents and cards. Thank you to Pete S. for his card, for John F. for his amusing e-card and all personal messages. Thank you all! 😘 🤗 😊 xxx

Busy Bee, Sorting My Life Out – Canon Lens For Sale!

Quick update as VERY busy! Sadly not with birding, sometimes there are far bigger things going on than birds and this year is one of them, so far anyway. After many years of heartache, turmoil, excuses and more excuses etc, I have finally got round to sorting my house out properly. I'm actually on holiday this week, but its no holiday really! So far I have spent nearly four days sorting through, filing and shredding tons of old papers, including parent's stuff and I now have two maxed out wheelie bins! My kitchen currently looks like Christmas take two, as opened my late Mother's huge box of Christmas decorations from the family home for the first time and also went through all of mine and made a throw and keep pile. Vivien is coming to have a look to see if she's wants any this week too.

Thank you very much indeed to two new blog subscribers (C.S. and P.H.) this week, your support is much appreciated. I now have four altogether. If anyone else would like to subscribe, please click on the link "Donate to My Blog Monthly" and click the Subscribe button, thank you.

There are so many things going on and I haven't got the time to tell you all yet! Not looking forward to this Friday, as its my birthday – but then I suppose its better to be another year older, than the alternative! There will be a few things, well more than a few, going up for sale on my blog and on Facebook selling sites over the next few weeks. I will put a full picture/advert up etc soon, but I'm selling my Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-F5.6 IS II USM lens if anyone is interested, send me an email: pennyclarke@talktalk.net I purchased this lens, in near mint condition just before I went to Shetland in October 2021 and only because I was still on a very long waiting list for the Canon RF 100-500 lens – I had always intended on selling this lens after I got the RF 100-500 lens and have hardly used it to be honest, so still in the same fabulous condition.
