It felt so good to be back at home in Shetland this morning, after my trip away to Norfolk. I almost instantly noticed the cleaner air here compared to down south. I was greeted off the ferry to a stunning, sunny day with 55mph winds. Caught the 7.59 bus back to Scalloway. It was so lovely to see my little house, but a killer to drag my heavy suitcase back up the hill! The daffodils have started to bloom in my garden. The bird feeders were obviously empty. Shetland ponies and sheep were on Gallow Hill next to my house and for the first time, one of the ponies actually came trotting towards me and let me stroke its head for quite a while, which has never happened before – a special welcome!
It was a brilliant day for drying clothes and I got everything washed and mostly dried on the lines outside, but needed to double peg everything. Cleaned out the bird ponds and filled all the bird feeders up. Had my last piece of Ray's tea cake for lunch. Finished unpacking. Lovely to sit by my fire this evening and this also helped to dry all my clothes. Nodded on and off all day, which is to be expected after my long trip 'home'.
Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow, with continued strong winds.
Norfolk trip will be posted this weekend.
Can you please stop running Norfolk down
