Rare Bird Alert News
Glaucous Gull south of Sumburgh Head.
Bad news about my office floor. So, my builder came out this afternoon – the floor underneath the underlay is mouldy chip board and underneath that is black wet mould on a concrete base – "rising damp". Unfortunately my builder doesn't have time to this job any time soon, so recommended someone else and they are coming out tomorrow morning. If money was no option, all of the concrete needs to be dug out. Basically I was told in similar words, what has been done is a job on the cheap when it was done originally. There is a cheaper option and I was told that the man coming out tomorrow, may have a better idea of how to rectify the situation.
Best you discovered it now.... if you'd moved in summer, you may not have spotted the damp and it would have meant dismantling office and then doing the work.... then putting everything back together.
ReplyDeleteAnd, all your camera gear would not have liked the damp, either!
There are very good concrete sealants that penetrate the weak concrete and harden on contact with the damp.... effectively creating a damp course. Good luck!!
