Whoever committed this cruel and sick act, needs to seek urgent help. Why would someone pour bottles of washing up liquid into this pond, knowing full well it was going to slowly kill all the fish?! I was horrified to read this!
Last year in July, Lucy and I met a lovely elderly gentleman called Brian Payne who came to feed the fish every day – he will be utterly devastated. As a child, I remember being so excited to see the "orange fish" in the fountain, as Lucy and I walked through the esplanade gardens with my grandmother – special memories of our childhood.
I strongly believe that anyone capable of killing any animal for fun, is capable of more serious crimes. I'm no detective, but someone has clearly carried this out, knowing what the outcome would be, it wasn't accidental. The culprit/s have also ruined many people's pleasure. Just think how many little children love to look in that pond to see if they can see the fish and especially to Brian, who spent every day feeding them and enjoying that special moment, probably one of the few he has each day. Whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself, but then the type of person that does that, will sadly not give a hoot!
