I don't know how I got through work today, but managed it somehow. I returned home and it was an effort just to hang all my washing up. Transferred all my photos from the laptop to an external hard drive and then onto my iMac so will sort through all the photos tomorrow night and add to my Fair Isle posts. Way too tired to even think about going birding. Cleaned up all my optics ready for birding. I had to cancel my hair appointment when I went to Fair Isle and managed to get another appointment for this Friday. I then have a week's holiday for birding here! Also have a few jobs to do including painting a garden seat that was here before I moved in – bought the paint last year, but never got round to doing it.

There has obviously been some fun and games going on whilst I was away, my gate to the front garden was open (its not possible to accidentally leave this open) and an old chair I had sitting behind the gate to Gallow Hill to sit and watch birds was thrown to the side and partially broken, so I have removed the chair altogether. I don't love having a right of way through my drive if youths are going to misbehave here. I feel sure its youngsters from an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago. Nothing I can do about it I suppose. If they are bored, why don't they take up birding!!! It would keep them occupied and with young, sharp eyes, the amount of rarities found on Shetland would massively increase! I don't think I have seen a single young person birding here, which is very sad, when this is such a rich place for wildlife.
