Overhead power lines to be removed in Cley to restore coastline’s natural beauty

This was done at Holme many years ago. This is dreadful news, no more wires for birds to perch on, no more Swallows, Martins, Starlings, Kestrels, Linnets, no potential Bee-eaters, no nothing. The disturbance to wildlife through digging up the land to put underground cables will be FAR WORSE! Very angry and sad to hear this. The wires along Beach Road are always exciting to watch for birds perched or landing, can't believe these will be gone!

  1. Perhaps the NWT could erect some fake wires for perching birds to use after all it won’t effect the landscape as real ones are already there. A relatively simple project but will have big impact for the birds.
