I spent the entire day up until 3.30pm trying to see the Pechora Pipit in my road! This had initially been found by Rory Tallack. I couldn't believe that two good birds were only a couple of doors away from me and I didn't manage to see either. There were only two other birders trying to look for the Pechora Pipit for a short while. The majority of the time it was just me, Rory Tallack and Marcus Lawson. Marcus's garden is a huge garden of trees and shrubs on a very steep slope on the opposite side of the road to me and descends down toward the harbour. So just to explain its inpossible to see into most of this garden, so it was pretty challenging. Found 3 Goldcrests here and the Siberian Chiffchaff. I spent ages walking on Gallow Hill as Rory had it briefly in the burn on the opposite side of the road. Found 1 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing and a flock of 23 Fieldfares at the very summit of the hill and found several colourful fungi. It was when I was at the summit of the hill when Marcus put news out he had had the Pechora Pipit again in his garden (an area that can't be viewed from the road). Gave up at 3.30pm as light almost gone at that time.

Went into Lerwick and popped into Heima to look at their Christmas display and then went to the huge Christmas Craft Fair at Clickimin Leisure Centre. I missed this the last two years. 90 Exhibitors displayed their crafts over two huge floors. I bought a very small wooden Christmas tree, a Snowman and a bookmark. The range of crafts was incredible, there are some very talented people here.
