No news.
The gorgeous Hawfinch was still in my garden this morning! Also a new bird for the garden, a lovely male Goldfinch feeding on the sunflower hearts and also four Siskins – such a much welcome variety of birds since yesterday, wow!
I
checked the bird news in my lunch break and was very very sad to see news, that the gorgeous Kingfisher I watched last night had been
found deceased this morning, lying on one of the rocks below Sea Road by
local birder Andy J. What an awful end. As another birder said it was
obviously exhausted from its long flight and probably underweight, even
though it was feeding well last night, I guess all too late. The crow
chasing it would have weakened it further too. 😢 I know this happens, but it doesn't make it any easier to accept, after watching this beautiful bird in the sunshine last night with its iridescent colours sparkling in the cystal clear light. Nature can be so very cruel.
Returning home from work I had 5 Siskins in the garden, 13 Collared Doves and the Woodpigeon had returned – I didn't see the Hawfinch this evening, but I find that Hawfinches are much more active in the early hours, so I guess it will still be around again tomorrow morning. Can't stop thinking about the Kingfisher – still can't believe its died. Whilst I was watching this beautiful bird last night I was thinking about the vague possibility that the male Kingfisher that had been around in Winter could still be here somewhere, just maybe and that they might find each other and pair up, wouldn't that have been spectacular! Maybe they are both now together 💕
