Rare Bird Alert News
Red-backed Shrike male at Ladysmith Road, Scalloway.
BLACK-WINGED PRATINCOLE still at south end of Loch of Spiggie.
Quail at Bakkasetter.
Quail by ferry terminal at Out Skerries.
Marcus Lawson found the male Red-backed Shrike in the sheep field at the end of my road whilst I was at work this morning, but no further sign of it or when I searched this evening after returning home from work. Hugh Harrop got some cracking pictures of the Black-winged Pratincole (see RBA) in sunshine, looks look it was flying over the fields, which would have been much closer than when I and others were watching it distantly over the loch.
My sister Lucy said it was really hot in Norfolk, its not here thank goodness, although it would be nice if it stopped raining as my bedding plants are water logged! Spent the evening putting the third bookcase together, each one is getting a little quicker, thank goodness.
