WHITE-THROATED SPARROW
In the Rosa at Sumburgh Head Lighthouse
Found by Nigel Kiteley
A fabulous after work 'twitch' on Wednesday! Had to go home first as had not taken my bins and camera to work with me today. Not many people here when I arrived, maybe around ten others, I guess most birders had been and gone. Massive thanks to Nigel Kiteley who found this stunning bird, just wow! This was another new bird for me! A local birder found it roosting later on, which I saw too, so cute, tucked up in a Rosa bush for the night!
This was the night for Puffins, never seen so many here at Sumburgh Head, a real spectacle! Some of them were so close, I simply took pictures on my iPhone! Took tons of pictures with the Canon R5, but far too late in the night to be going through Puffin pictures, so will post some another day. The light was beautiful over the sea, magical! I found an Arctic Skua over "The Lookout" (new hide) at Sumburgh Head which was a bonus! So much action with all the sea birds swirling round the cliffs. Arrived home late, what an evening!
