At Geosetter Burn I found 2 Goldcrests and a Blackbird. At Mossy Hill there were 10+ Redwings, nothing else of note apart from pot holes! Watched the American Wigeon (found by Hugh H.) distantly on Loch of Hillwell!

Just beyond the dam at Quendale Mill I found the Grey Grey Shrike, beheading a small bird that it had impaled on a barbed wire fence – a female Blackbird was perched opposite and stared intently at the shrike. There wasn't much left of the meal, so I couldn't work out what it was, but it looked like it had a ring on each leg.

Watched a Great Crested Grebe with a Slavonian Grebe at the south end of Spiggie Loch, distantly but in perfect light. Drove to Spiggie Beach and had a lovely walk as the sun was setting, casting pink shadows across the wet sands. A beautiful end to the day.

Pictures tomorrow.
