Easterly winds today. At the Geosetter Burn I didn't find a single bird. Went to Ireland, as someone else had had Bramblings there, I only found a few Twite in the crop by the first house. At Levenwick there were 4 Blackbirds, Starlings and House Sparrows. Roger R. put news out of a Black Redstart by the pier at Grutness, so I decided to go and try my luck. Parked up along the road at Grutness, which looks even more of a building site than when I last visited. I scanned the end of the pier and was very lucky indeed – the Black Redstart was flitting around the end of the pier amongst all the building materials and blocks, but didn't see it again and couldn't get any closer even if I wanted to, as its all cordoned off with large caged barriers. Checked out the Grutness garden, but too late in the day and nothing in there, but if there was, it was roosting!
Back to work tomorrow. Spent the evening editing photos, which took forever and have now finished adding several more Blackpoll Warbler photos, Slavonian Grebe, beach and other scenic photos to my blog post on Friday – scroll down!
